In Composition with Two Parrots, Fernand Léger continues his exploration of the human figure by placing it within a Cubist-inspired construction. The work reveals his interest in simplified volumes and bodies treated as structural elements. Rather than depicting a specific narrative scene, he organises the figures according to a balance of masses, combining classical references and modern language. The monumental female figures are reminiscent of certain traditional compositions while being integrated into a fragmented space.

The scene brings together several bodies arranged vertically and intertwined. On the left, two figures with raised arms stand side by side. In the centre, a naked woman is seated, while another figure rises above her. Two colourful parrots, one green and red, the other more discreet, appear perched on the bodies. On the right, vertical geometric elements frame the composition. Black outlines mark the shapes, the volumes are smoothed, and the colours, ochre, blue, green and brown, are applied in clean, flat areas.
