Me and my Doll - Frida Kahlo
Excellent
L'œuvre en bref
In this painting, Frida Kahlo is shown seated on a bed, soberly dressed in a green skirt and white blouse, in a bare room with red tiles. Her expression is serious, her gaze detached, almost melancholy. To her right, a porcelain doll with frozen features and rigid limbs rests on a second bench, her legs spread and her torso bare.
The contrast between Frida's subdued calm and the almost disturbing strangeness of the doll evokes the absence of children in the artist's life, a consequence of her many health problems. Would you like to buy another reproduction of Frida Kahlo? The work is at once intimate, silent and poignant.
