Arearea - Paul Gauguin
In search of authenticity, Paul Gauguin visited Polynesia in 1891. Inspired by exoticism, local tales and ancient religious traditions, he embarked on a series of melancholic works in which Tahitians live in a lush nature, under the protection of the gods. Other post-impressionnist works in this style are Two Tahitian Women and Aha Oe Feii.
