This poster combines illustration and humor to promote the seaside resort of La Baule, known for its social atmosphere. Dufy, who often worked on the borderline between art and graphic design, plays with the codes of tourist advertising here, hijacking a beach scene with a satirical touch.

Against a uniform blue background evocative of the sea, figures in evening wear are depicted in the water: couples in suits, women in ball gowns, waiters carrying champagne buckets. The style is graphic, with simplified silhouettes, contrasting colors - black, white, red - and a marked linear design. The handwritten text, “à la Baule” and “les excentricités continuent”, reinforces the light, offbeat tone of the image. The result is a whimsical, unrealistic scene, where worldliness rubs shoulders with the absurd in a stylized maritime setting.
