Description

Black Grid is an iconic work by Vassily Kandinsky, a Russian artist considered one of the pioneers of abstract art. Painted in 1922, this painting is characteristic of Kandinsky's period of geometric abstraction, during which he experimented with shapes and colours to create an original visual language.

The abstract painting presents a set of geometric shapes, dominated by a black grid that occupies the central space of the composition. The grid is composed of intersecting vertical and horizontal lines, creating rectangles and squares of different sizes. These shapes overlap and intertwine, creating a sense of movement and dynamism. The richness of the colours is another striking aspect of Black Grid. The geometric shapes are filled with bright, contrasting colours, ranging from red, yellow, blue and green to black, white and grey. The colours are applied expressively, with a diverse colour palette and variations in tone and intensity.
