What is abstract art? Abstract art is a type of art that does not depict the natural world, but is composed of shapes, colours and lines intended to express the artist's feelings or ideas. Unlike realism or impressionism, abstract art does not seek to represent tangible objects, but rather to create an entirely new visual experience. While it may be difficult to appreciate abstract art at first glance, with time and contemplation, the experience can be very rewarding.
Abstract art is a type of art in which the artist does not attempt to represent a precise image of reality, but rather uses shapes, colours and textures to create an abstract mood or feeling. Many abstract artists believe that art should be experienced emotionally, rather than intellectually. One of the earliest and most influential proponents of abstract art was the painter Vassily Kandinsky. In his famous work Yellow-Red-Blue, Kandinsky argues that art should not be limited by the constraints of realism, but should instead be free to explore colour, form and line. This idea had a profound impact on the development of abstract art, and many artists followed Kandinsky's example. Hilma De Klint also played a very important role in the creation of the movement. Svanen (The Swan) is one of her most famous works and is currently on display at the Hilma af Klint Foundation in Stockholm, Sweden. The painting is composed of several geometric shapes, including circles, triangles and squares. Hilma af Klint has stated that the painting represents the spiritual world and that the different shapes represent different aspects of the soul. The painting has been praised for its use of colour and its overall harmony.
Although there is no definitive style of abstract art, notable artists associated with the genre include Hilma De Klint, Paul Klee and Piet Mondrian. These artists created some of the most iconic and stunning paintings of the 20th century, and their work continues to inspire new generations of abstract artists.
